Putting down the paint brush and picking up the pen…

Painting always came naturally to me (unlike maths). I look at the life around me and paint my own meaning onto canvas and it is sometimes a world I get absorbed into for hours on end. Writing my thoughts is more challenging but I am keen to tell the tale of what goes on during those hours of pure concentration and the journey I take behind the scenes to bring my work to life.

Having recently moved into my first studio, apart from the studio I shared during university, I have found myself discovery a whole new world and way of working. Not only is the carpet in my back bedroom saved from being splattered in paint, but now I am working in an environment where I am surrounded by artistic objects and people from who I am learning a great deal. From jewellers to curators, music creators and painters, my part time week at Shudehill Studios has made me realise that there are many other people who have the same passion for art as I do – and it is both inspiring and reassuring.

Each month I will aim to share some of my ideas and thoughts with you, moving from imagery to words and sharing the tales behind the commissions I produce.  I will also include latest news and activity so you can continue to follow me and my brush on the journey we take together…
