The paint is dry. The catalogue’s printed. The invites have been sent. I’m in the final stages of the build up to my first solo exhibition: Deeper Understanding.
Between May 21st and July 14th my latest collection of work will be displayed at the Lowry Hotel in Manchester, a venue space curated by Comme Ca Art (CCA). Following on from my exhibition at The Portico Gallery in February, I was delighted when Claire from CCA asked if I would be interested in being the next artist to feature at this prestigious venue. I’ll have 14 paintings, all focusing on the female form, with textures, line making and colour exploration creating works of art, that venture between realism from afar, and abstract close-up.
After a few months of blood, sweat and tears – literally – I’m raring to go for the preview night taking place on Thursday 21st May. It’s been a huge learning experience for me and although stressful at times, I know I will look back on the experience with pride on what I have achieved – even bagging myself an interview with an online magazine! I’d like to thank family and friends for their support over the last 15 years and my partner and parents for always encouraging me. Perhaps next time, I’ll try not to do a solo show in only 3 months whilst being 4-7 months pregnant!
Come along to the venue between 21st May and 14th July and see ‘Deeper Understanding’ for yourself.
